Quiet high pressure reducing valve
A pressure reducing valve includes a housing having a passage therein, a valve body disposed within the passage,CHECK VALVES and a piston slideably disposed within the passage. The valve body includes a wall arranged transverse to the passage and dividing the passage into an input side and an output side, the wall having a plurality of openings passing therethrough, Butterfly Valvesa portion of the wall between the openings and facing the output side defining a sealing surface. The piston includes a channel passing longitudinally therethrough with a sealing ledge surrounding the channel on a first end, a flange surrounding the channel on a second end,Instrumentation Ball Valves and an annular shoulder surrounding the sealing ledge. Fluid pressure at the input side acts on the shoulder and biases the piston toward the output side and fluid pressure at the output side acts on the flange and biases the piston toward the input side. The present invention relates generally to fluid flow control valves and more particularly to orifice assemblies of the type which are continuously adjustable wherein a high pressure reduction is divided into multiple smaller pressure drops to reduce total audible noise generation, flow is divided into multiple paths of small dimensions to reduce total audible noise level, suppress the low frequency audible noise levels, disperse the audible noise over a wider spectrum to avoid intense peaks, cavitation and erosion damage to the valve are reduced without the need for expensive special materials, pressure reduction is achieved by adaptive reduction in area as well as friction resulting efficient use of energy, the actuator energy and force requirements are low due to force balancing design, yet the valve is energy efficient and fast.
