Pressure Reducing Valve Performance and Selection Guide

2026-01-15

Basic Performance of Pressure Reducing Valves

(1) Pressure Regulation Range: This refers to the adjustable range of the outlet pressure (P₂). The valve must maintain specified accuracy within this range. The range is primarily related to the stiffness of the pressure-adjusting spring.

(2) Pressure Characteristics: This describes the fluctuation in outlet pressure caused by changes in inlet pressure when the flow rate (g) is constant. Smaller outlet pressure fluctuations indicate better performance. The outlet pressure must remain essentially stable and independent of inlet pressure variations, provided it is maintained a certain value below the inlet pressure.Pressure relief valve Products

(3) Flow Characteristics: This refers to how the outlet pressure changes with variations in the output flow rate (g) when the inlet pressure is held constant. Smaller changes in outlet pressure during flow fluctuations are desirable. Generally, lower outlet pressure results in smaller fluctuations due to changes in flow.

III. Selection and Use of Pressure Reducing Valves

Select the type and pressure regulation accuracy of the valve based on application requirements. Then, determine the port size based on the required maximum output flow. Ensure the supply pressure is at least 0.1 MPa higher than the maximum required output pressure.Pressure relief valveNews

Pressure reducing valves are typically installed downstream of a filter separator and upstream of a lubricator or pressure regulator. Ensure correct orientation; the inlet and outlet ports must not be reversed. When the valve is not in use, loosen the adjustment knob to prevent permanent deformation of the diaphragm from constant pressure, which can affect performance.
